Integrated Education Center Extended activity of Sindhu Charitable Trust

About Us

At A W Sindhu Vidya Bhavan, we are committed to improving the lives of our special children – those affected by Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, MR etc .

Introduction

Educational opportunities are mandated for children. The need to provide a caring and respectful enviroment for children struggling with learning difficulties was seen by the Sindhu Charitable Trust, who started an Integrated Education Center (I.E.C.). In June 2003 in Sind Society Campus, Aundh, Pune, India. The center helps special children who are mentally/physically challenged to learn vocational skills and academics, with the sole objective being the importance of changing handicapist attitude into developing positive attitude in our Special Children.
Our School has recognition from Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, but does not receive any grant from the Government. The school operates on the fees collected from the students and donations from socially conscious people.

The Challenge and How You can make a difference

Official estimates of the Government put the number of mentally challenged people in India at almost 2% of the total population – a number in excess of 20 million!! Conditions like ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder), Down’s Syndrome have no co-relation to social or economic class and can affect anyone, anywhere – from any background. A large majority of children affected by these conditions, will never be able to live ‘normal’ lives.

Our special teachers, physio-therapist, speech therapist, helpers, and volunteers provide our children with the training, special care, attention, love, and healing - that gives them the confidence they need to live near-independent lives, to the extent possible. The school experience also imparts these children social skills that come so naturally to other children, more fortunate.

These childrens need education. they need care. They need justice. We appeal to generous side of you to kindly donate. Your act of compassion would be a matter of great encouragement to the school. Help us to help these special children and make their life move forward.
